Thank Goodness for Trestles

Usually on Sundays Tim, Davis and I find ourselves at my parents house for a weekend wrap-up. Today was no different, but because the surf has been giant, we decided to venture to Trestles, a surf spot, to check out the waves. Trestles is world-famous and named for the train bridge trestles you have to pass under to get to the beach. While doing some research on exactly what a trestle is, I found it to be meaningful in more ways than one. Wikipedia refers to a trestle as "...a rigid frame used as a support." We are so fortunate to have our own living trestles here in town - Mom and Dad, it's because of you that we love where we live and we thank you for giving us constant support so we can continue to build our own bridge!

Shhhhhhh

There is nothing more peaceful than a sleeping child, be it in a bed, in your arms or in the car on the way home from running errands...

Gone Bananas!

Davis has a sweet friend, Samantha, and today we monkied around to celebrate her 2nd birthday! Her mom, Sarah, is so awesome and such a fabulous hostess, PLUS she is due with TWINS next month! I met Sarah through our friend Jamie, and she quickly completed our "Mother's Meeting" group - 5 of us that meet once a month to eat, drink and be merry. Among our group's biggest feats: Going from ZERO to EIGHT children in 3 short years (yes, we have been busy populating the earth). Let me not diminish the fact that 4 more babies will join the group this Spring - We have clearly gone bananas! Happy Birthday Samantha! You are one gorgeous Monkey!

Wee Wiley Winky!

How can one woman do it all? Well, this gal can. Annika, mom to Davis's buddy Brooks and 6 week old Wiley, is the most creative and artistic human I know. Not only is she a graphic design wiz and master crafter, she can throw a party with the best of them! Everytime we get invited to their house, we get SO EXCITED - It's always perfectly put together with fab food! Today we went over to celebrate Wiley, the cutest, sleepiest and most well-behaved baby on the block. Highlight: Donuts! I ate 2, shhhhhhh!

P.S. Look at this cute invite - I laugh every time!

For BLOOMin' Sake!

Teaching a 17-month old how to plant seeds is a very gratifying experience, especially when that kid loves to shovel dirt and throw things. Davis and I planted our spring blooms today - He carefully dug holes and spastically threw the seeds into the beds! This little guy loves manual labor, which reminds Tim and I of his great grandfather Ray, who was constantly working the Dubost Ranch into his 90's. Let's hope these blooms pop up soon!

Date Swapping Duo

We are fortunate enough to have the BEST friends in town! Katie and Justin are extra special because their son Cole is one of Davis' BFFs and every week we swap kids so the other couple can have a date night. It works out perfectly and the boys are too cute together (at least when it's our turn to watch them!). Yesterday we met Katie and Cole at Sunset Park in Dana Point, coincidentally where my Mom used to bring me as a kid - What a perfect place to gab and let me tell you, Katie and I are great gabbers!

pop, Pop and POP

Davis loves the word "Pop" and I mean, LOVES it. The great thing is that this word has 3 different meanings, all which stand for 3 of his absolute favorite things.

First is "pop" which means POPCORN. This kid is obsessed with the stuff, will eat an entire bag in one sitting and loves to watch it be made. Yes, he has choked on it numerous times, but still enjoys it all the same.

Second is "Pop" which is his other word for Dad. Davis has great admiration for his Dad - When I see him watching Tim do "guy things" like shaving, etc, he is in awe. On weekends, Davis wants to be absolutely no place else but with his Dad and when Monday rolls around, he walks around the house during the day saying "Pop? Pop? Pop?"

Lastly, there is "POP" in all caps because this guy is the original pop of the three. When this POP is on the scene, we all know the pecking order and our little "Barnacle Bill" clings to him like, well, a barnacle! We have always joked that my dad and Davis speak their own language, but let me tell you, it is no joke! They truly have a bond... Let's just hope Davis stays out of trouble and off motorcycles unlike his POP.

Look What I Bought!

Of all the items I bought this morning at Walmart, the kid that jumped in my cart was the best purchase of all!

Back Bay Billys

Davis and I headed up to Newport today to visit Tim at work. I love going up that way because 1. We get to see Tim in his work element! 2. We always eat lunch someplace cool and 3. The drive home on Coast Hwy is always scenic! Today we brought Tim his fav turkey sandwich from Billys - We ate in the back of the car with a view of the Newport Back Bay and Davis was in heaven having his Dad for a lunch date... I was pretty happy too since the last time I was here I was running a half marathon and this time I got to watch my two boys play and stuff my face with food!

"Corn Cob Grin"

This is what my sister calls these teeth! And as she points out, which is so sweet: "I LOVE that corn cob smile.... reminds me of someone else I grew up with that I love to pieces... =)" I love you too!

Let Your Garden Grow

Davis is a kid that loves to be outside. I let him loose in our courtyard almost daily and he gets busy tending to the plants, moving dirt and getting into trouble with Chavo. He is very lucky because I am pretty sure he's inherited the green thumb his great grandmother Helen, aka Grammy, had and I can't wait to plant seeds with him this Spring!

Happy Birthday Snap!

We celebrated BIG for Mom's birthday! The week was filled with fun: An overnighter to Coronado with the whole Turnbull crew, lunch at Crystal Cove and a huge dinner in SC with family. This lady always knows how to party and truly CELEBRATE each and every year of life!

I Quit!

After months of back and forth, and way too many conversations with Tim, it's official: I quit my job. WOO HOO! I am so excited to spend these last 3 months with Davis, to really enjoy our time together before his little sister comes to shake things up. When else will it just be the two of us chasing eachother around the beach, endlessly reading Thomas the Train books and exploring the world together as a perfect little dynamic duo? I am relishing every minute... It's amazing just how much I love this little boy. Can you blame me?

I Heart You!

Happy hearts all around! Tim and I had the loviest Valentines Day with our little love bug (we made Tim heart-shaped pancakes, decorated the house and gave him a video of photos from our fun life together - I got spoiled with flowers, chocolates and a new travel coffee mug I have been dying for, yay!). At night Tim and I got a fun "date night" while Davis enjoyed the royal treatment with Kate, my mom and the girls. Hope you enjoyed your valentine, hand-crafted by Davis ;)

Chooch Obsessed

As most of you know, Davis is obsessed with chooches, aka trains. This boy cannot get enough of his trains so as an homage to his first love, I had to post some of my fav train pics to date!

Welcome Baby Raymond!

We have our first nephew! Raymond Robert Dubost was born on Ground Hog's Day and we were lucky enough to get up to see him in Paso Robles during his first week of life! What a sweet baby he is and how lucky were we that new mom Sarah saddled up one of her ponies for Davis to ride?!? I see much fun in the future for Davis and his new cuzzie.

P.S. We also got some great time with Grandpa Curt and Grandma Kate at the Dubost Ranch, rounding up cattle in the Polaris (yes, that is Grandma Kate driving!). Tell me these are not memorable grandparents! What FUN.

The Red Banana Comes to Town

One of my best college girlfriends, Hannah, came to SC with her DARLING baby boy, Bo. Hannah and I have known eachother for 10+ years and let me tell you, we've seen eachother through it all.... At UC Davis as roommates and college basketball teammates, as mentors for first jobs, as bridesmaids during engagements and weddings, as support while looking for second jobs and third jobs and fourth jobs (HA.) and now as aunties to one another's babies. It is so fun to see Hannah as a mother - She is calm and collected and just a natural. Not to mention that she is still as fun and free-spirited as always (see photo below) - Bo is definitely lucky to have Hannah as his mom.
